West Ham United’s newest signing Pedro Obiang has admitted that he will remain a Sampdoria supporter and that it was an honour to play for the Blucerchiati.

The 23-year-old completed his move to the Hammers on Wednesday to bring to an end his seven year stay in Liguria, a place that clearly holds fond memories for the Spaniard who will remain a committed Sampdoria fan.

“From today onwards I will be a fan of Sampdoria,” he posted to Facebook after thanking the club and his colleagues.

“I will never forget to support the club, it is from afar and when it is possible I will watch games in person.

“It is an honour to wear this shirt and I’m happy to have given my all in every game for this shirt.”

Upon his arrival at West Ham, he gave an interview to the club’s official website where he admitted he was thrilled to have joined.

“I’m really excited to be playing in the Premier League, it is a style that will help me improve both as a player and a person.

“I’ve been speaking with West Ham for some time and I’m glad to have the opportunity to finally be here.”
