Higuain - NapoliArsenal have ended their interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, with Gunners coach Arsene Wenger set to pursue other targets to reinforce the club’s attacking options.

Wenger has been a huge admirer of the Argentine international but has now decided to abandon any deal for the 27-year-old and will instead opt to pursue the signature of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

According to The Daily Express, the Gunners are lining up a €57 million bid for the French international as they look to win their first Premier League title in 12 years.

Higuain, whose contract in Naples runs until June 2018, is now largely expected to remain at Napoli despite the Azzurri failing to qualify for the Champions League.

The striker made 37 league appearances for Napoli last season, netting 18 times.
