Mario Balotelli’s future at Liverpool has been cast into further doubt after the striker was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Southeast Asia and Australia.

The €20 million signing from AC Milan endured a torrid debut season on Merseyside, scoring a solitary league goal as the Reds finished a disappointing 6th in the Premier League.

The Italian international appears to have lost the faith of Brendan Rodgers and the club’s coaching staff as he has been left off the squad list for Liverpool’s pre-season tour, with all suggestions indicating he won’t be a Liverpool player for much longer.

Balotelli was not named in the 30-man list that will leave on Sunday night before travelling to Bangkok, Brisbane, Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur and will instead stay in England to prepare for the new season.

Also left behind is fellow Italian striker Fabio Borini, with the pair set to be shown the exit door by Liverpool.
