Besiktas are close to completing a move for Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez with the deal set to be complete within the next couple of days, bringing an end to his injury-hit two year spell in Italy.
Gomez was heralded upon his Viola signature in 2013, however the once prolific goalscorer looked a shadow of the player he was at Bayern Munich as injuries blighted his first season with the club and now the Florence based side are ready to cash in on the 30-year-old.
Turkish outfit Besiktas have been desperate to land the Germany international this summer and, according to Sport Mediaset, they will finally land their man in the next couple of days as the deal is near completion.
Gomez’s departure will likely see Alberto Gilardino’s loan from Guangzhou Evergrande become a permanent move in the coming weeks, as boss Paulo Sousa wants to keep hold of the seasoned forward.
