Cagliari full-back Nicola Murru has denied reports that he is set for a move to AC Milan saying he wishes to respect his contract with his present side.

The Italy Under-21 international is highly rated within Serie A and has recently been linked with a move away from the relegated Rossoblu, with the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza thought to be his most likely destination.

However, speaking to Sardegnasport.it, Murru categorically dismissed rumours saying, “I have a contract until 2019 with Cagliari and I intend to respect it.

“I want to work to earn a place in the team, gain praise and especially help the team. I leave matters about my future to my agent.”

The full-back also said he wanted to earn the trust of new coach Massimo Rastelli.

“I want to win the trust of the coach.

“The impact of Rastelli has been great, he’s a coach who demands a lot and I want to prove I deserve a place in the team”
