Serie A new boys Carpi have completed the signing of ex-Catania defender Nicolas Spolli on a free transfer.

The Argentine defender spent the second half of last season on a loan with Roma but only went on to feature once for the Giallorossi.

The Biancorossi, made the deal official by releasing a statement via their website which read: “Carpi FC have finalised the deal for the signing of the player Nicolas Spolli.

“The Argentinian defender, having freed himself from his contract with Catania, signed a contract which ends on June 30, 2016, with an option to renew next season.

“Spolli has played over 130 games in Serie A and he adds experience to the defensive options available to Coach [Fabrizio] Castori.”

The 32 year-old defender moved to Italy from Newell’s Old Boys in 2009 to play for Sicilian outfit Catania.
