Carpi have continued their preparations for Serie A football by announcing the signing of Udinese goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic.

Last season’s Serie B champions are realistic about the transformation needed in squad quality ahead of the new campaign, and have continued their progress by signing a shot stopper with valuable top flight experience.

The Biancorossi clinched a season-long loan deal with the Zebrette for the Serbian, the club have confirmed on their official website.

The 29-year-old brings experience in 61 Serie A appearances for Udinese, as well as 11 appearances for the Serbian national team.

Carpi have already signed fellow goalkeeper Francesco Benussi so far this transfer window, but it is now expected that the veteran will provide backup to the latest acquisition.

The 2015-16 season will be a historic first for Carpi in Italy’s top flight, having only made their Serie B debut in 2013.
