Francesco BardiInter goalkeeper Francesco Bardi will spend the upcoming season on loan at La Liga outfit Espanyol, the Spanish club announced on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Italian youth international spent last season on loan at Chievo Verona, but failed to make an impression, only making 10 league appearances.

“Francesco Bardi will be a first team player of RCD Espanyol during the season 2015-2016, keeping a purchase option at the end of the loan,” a statement read on Espanyol’s official website.

“Bardi went privately to the appropriate medical facilities Clinica Creu Blanca and has already signed his new contract, accompanied by club president Joan Collet.”

Bardi arrives as a replacement for Kiko Casilla who recently completed a move to Real Madrid, and the Italian can’t wait to get started on his new adventure.

I am very pleased to be joining a historic club like Espanyol, I hope to give so much for this glorious shirt. Barcelona is a beautiful city and La Liga is a very competitive championship,” Bardi said upon signing.
