Everton are preparing a move for Udinese defender Thomas Heurtaux.

The Frenchman has become a key part of the Zebrette squad and had previously been linked with Premier League newcomers Watford who are owned by the Pozzo family, who also own Udinese.

Gazzetta TV reports that the Toffees are keen to bring the 29-year-old to Goodison Park, however, as  John Stones looks set to join Chelsea, they are in need of a replacement.

A move to the Hornets failed to materialise for Heurtaux, despite him reportedly agreeing to a transfer.

He joined Udinese in 2012 and has scored five times in 87 games for them since, and he could move away despite his current contract running out in 2017.

Everton would be expected to pay around €10 million for the Frenchman’s services.
