Nemanja Vidic InterEverton have been linked with a surprise move for former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

The 33-year-old made 23 appearances during the 2014-15 Serie A season when poor form saw Vidic consigned to the bench following Roberto Mancini’s arrival but a late upturn in performances levels saw him return to regular first team action.

According to the Daily Star, the Toffees are keen on Vidic as coach Roberto Martinez is on the lookout for an experienced defender he can bring to Merseyside.

Everton are eager to bring in defensive cover with John Stones reportedly the subject of interest from Manchester City and Chelsea whilst the veteran centre-back Sylvain Distin was released at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Vidic was also previously linked with a move to Qatar although the player’s agent Silvano Martina insisted that the Serbian is happy at the Nerazzurri and there is no truth to speculation regarding a move to the Middle East.

The experienced defender still has two years remaining on his contract with the Biscione.
