Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie looks set to be joining Premier League side Southampton instead of potential suitors Lazio.

The Aquile have been linked with the Dutchman for some time now, possibly as a replacement for Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia, who has been linked with a move away from Rome.

However, according to English newspaper The Metro, Clasie looks likely to join Southampton.

Saints manager Ronald Koeman had already confirmed that Southampton were looking at the Dutch international to replace the outgoing Morgan Schneiderlin.

News broke after Feyenoord’s official Twitter account posted a tweet saying: ‘Jordy Clasie is not playing against Fortuna Dusseldorf this afternoon. The reason is that serious interest has been shown for the captain’.

The asking price for Clasie is believed to be around €12 million.
