Fiorentina are close to the signing of full-back Gilberto from Brazilian side Botafogo.
The young Brazilian has been linked with numerous clubs across Europe but it appears that Fiorentina are winning the race to sign Gilberto
According to Brazilian newspaper Lancenet, Fiorentina are closing in on signing 22-year-old Gilberto from Botafogo.
Gilberto’s deal with the Brazilian club runs out in December and therefore can leave for free in the January transfer window.
But Fiorentina, under new coach Paulo Sousa, are believed to want to strengthen their defensive line this summer and are working for a deal that would bring Gilberto to Italy this summer.
Gilberto has been capped by Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 level and plays as a right-back.
The 22-year-old is currently playing for Brazil at the 2015 Pan-American games.
