The future of Fiorentina midfielder Matias Fernandez remains uncertain, after the Chilean is yet to extend his contract with the Viola.
The 29-year-old, who recently won the 2015 Copa America while representing Chile, has reportedly been offered a new deal to continue his career in Florence.
However, according to FirenzeViolaIt, Fernandez is hesitant to prolong his stay with Fiorentina until he discusses his future with newly appointed boss Paulo Sousa, following the sacking of former coach Vincenzo Montella last month.
It has been reported the former Sporting Lisbon man will speak with Sousa in the coming hours to understand the Portuguese tactician’s plans moving forward, before Fernandez commits to any new contract extension.
Fernandez, whose current deal expires in June 2016, amassed 29 Serie A appearances during last season netting two goals and laying on a further nine assists in the league.
