Fiorentina are pursuing Espanyol defender Hector Moreno as the club look for defensive reinforcements before the new season.

The Catalan club are seemingly willing to let the Mexico international depart the Cornella-El Prat during the current transfer window,  with the centre-back also attracting interest from PSV Eindhoven.

According to Barcelona based newspaper Sport, the Blanquiazules would require an offer of around €7 million to let Moreno leave. Moreno’s agent Mino Raiola will meet with the Viola directors in due course to discuss personal terms.

Singing a central defender is a priority for the Gigliati as they have already sold Stefan Savic to Atletico Madrid and Michele Camporese to Empoli.

Moreno has spent four seasons at the heart of the defence in Espanyol, however last season he briefly lost his place after sustaining a broken left tibia whilst playing for Mexico at the 2014 World Cup, which curtailed a proposed move to Manchester United.

The injury meant that Moreno spent four months on the sidelines before fighting his way back into the starting line-up making 29 appearances and scoring one goal as Espanyol finished the season in 10th position.
