Paolo MaldiniAC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has said that club legend Paolo Maldini rejected an opportunity to manage Milan’s youth team.

Maldini played for the Rossoneri for the whole of his career making his debut in 1985 at the age of 16. He went on to win seven Serie A titles with the Stadia Meazza side as well as five major European titles.

“Relations are good, Paolo [Maldini] is a legend for Milan,” said Galliani in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport .

“I’ve never had any problems with him and there is no difficulties between us.

“I offered the leadership of the youth sector to him with complete control, but he refused.”

Galliani has been extremely busy this summer as the Rossoneri have undergone a complete transformation, bringing in the likes of Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano and Andrea Bertolacci as well as new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
