Former Juventus midfielder Sunday Oliseh is set to be appointed as the new coach of Nigeria.

The Nigeria international squad have been looking for a replacement since Stephen Keshi was fired last weekend, and they look set to unveil Oliseh as head coach. The 40-year-old captained his country while playing for them between 1993 and 2002.

He previously coached Belgian side Vervietois between 2008 and 2009.

The former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder played for Italian champions Juventus during the 1999/2000 Serie A season where he scored once in 13 games, and had another spell in Italy at Reggiana during the 1994/95 season, where he managed one goal in 29 appearances.

Nigeria dropped 14 places to 57th in the latest FIFA rankings despite a 2-0 victory over Chad in June, with the Super Eagles next game an African Cup of Nations qualifier away to Tanzania on September 3.
