Chievo have announced that 33-year-old centre back Bostjan Cesar has extended his contract until 2018 with the Serie A outfit.

The Gialloblu had one of the league’s toughest defences last season, conceding just 41 goals in 38 games, with only champions Juventus, Roma and Lazio bettering their performance.

The club’s official website officially declared the new deal with the player who has been with Chievo since 2010, scoring five goals in a total of 149 appearances for the Flying Donkeys.

Cesar started his career at Dinamo Zagreb but left in 2005 for French giants Marseille, spending the 2007/08 campaign on loan with English club West Bromwich Albion.

The Slovenian was an important part of his team’s back line last season, making 27 starts in Serie A.
