Inter midfielder Hernanes believes that both he and the club are stronger than ever going into the 2015-16 Serie A season.

The Biscione have been boosted after heavy investment in several new players over the the summer, while the Brazilian has established himself as a trequartista behind the strikers.

“President Erick Thohir is doing so much and investing in the team, the gym and the training ground,” said Hernanes to Inter Channel.

“The players are also hungry for trophies, the fans want to win as much as we do, so all together we are targeting victory.

“Last season we achieved much less than was within our capabilities, so this year we have to reap double to make up for it.

“I didn’t have the right characteristics to play as a trequartista before, but now I feel comfortable there because coach Roberto Mancini changed me.”

Hernanes also discussed his role at Inter and ambition to help launch a new winning cycle for the Nerazzurri.

“It is true that I have grown to become a leader in this group,” he told Brazilian website Lancenet.

“But it is not right to just talk about leadership as I prefer to win thanks to my work on the pitch.

“Inter recently won five consecutive Serie A titles and Juventus are now going through a similar phase at the moment.

“They faced a period of change but formed a winning team and managed to reap the benefits of their hard work.

“Football is made up of cycles and we are motivated to now take our turn again.”
