Inter playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri looks set for a return to Germany, with a move to Schalke on the verge of completion.

The Swiss international was snatched up by Inter on a four-and-a-half year contract in January this year, but numerous clubs are said to be pursuing the 23-year-old despite him only being with Inter for half a season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Schalke’s recent sale of Jefferson Farfan to Al Jazira will bring in about €10 million to the German outfit, who will reinvest their earnings in the pursuit of Shaqiri.

An agreement has already been made between the two parties, with an official announcement due for release soon.

In Shaqiri’s short time with the Nerazzurri, he appeared 15 times, contributing one goal and two assists in Serie A.

The Swiss international spent three years with German champions Bayern Munich before joining Inter.
