Discussions are ongoing between Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid over the transfer of Thiago Motta.

PSG are keen to make reinforcements to their squad and with financial sanctions still looming large over the club the Parisians must let players go before they can bring in anyone else.

A formal agreement between the pair is very close, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Motta admits his time in Paris is at end and is ready for another challenge in his career and could well look at making the move to a club that he had a an injury hit spell with back in the 2007-2008 season.

Inter were also interested in bringing the 32-year-old Italian international back for a second spell at the Giuseppe Meazza but Motta, although interested in a move back to Italy, seems keen to show his worth to Atletico having been unable to show it first around.
