Inter are ready to take Sunderland to court over the missed payment of Ricky Alvarez as The Black Cats have not paid the final instalment agreed in the contract signed with Inter to purchase the player.

The 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in 2011 from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield. Following an unsuccessful spell in Milan, Alvarez moved to Sunderland on a season-long loan deal for a fee of €1 million, with the obligation from the English Premier League side to buy him if the Black Cats avoided relegation.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter officials will appeal to FIFA to receive the payment with Sunderland unwilling to proceed with the transfer due to the player’s poor injury record.

Sunderland avoided relegation and stayed in the Premier League, and must now pay the agreed €11 million fee to Inter, despite Alvarez only playing 13 games for the club.
