The investigation into alleged match-fixing during the 2014/15 Serie B campaign has widened to include matches from Italy’s third division.

Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti was the initial source of the scandal having been accused of attempting to bribe opposing players for the benefit of his own club.

Pulvirenti has since been placed under house-arrest while several other club officials and players are under investigation.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the latest development in the “Dirty Soccer” scandal reveals that three matches from the Lega Pro are now under scrutiny from the prosecutor’s office in Catania.

The matches in question involve Martina, Paganese, Vigor Lamezia, Casertana, Pistoiese and Aquila but it is not yet known which of these clubs is suspected of any wrongdoing.

If found guilty, clubs could face demotion to a lower division in addition to hefty fines, while officials and players could be banned from the sport altogether.
