Juventus and Inter battle for Manchester United striker

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has been linked with a move to either Juventus or Inter during the current transfer window, although Liverpool and Benfica remain in the hunt.

Hernandez has struggled to cement a permanent spot in the starting line-up at Old Trafford and has been declared surplus to requirements under Louis van Gaal. The former Guadalajara forward spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, with the Mexican’s future lying away from Manchester, possibly in Serie A.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola believes that Juventus, Inter and Liverpool are the favourites to strike a deal, although he could be used as a makeweight as The Red Devils try to sign Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.

Hernandez would be seen as a viable alternative to the recently departed Carlos Tevez at the Bianconeri, whilst the Nerazzurri are in the market for a striker to partner Mauro Icardi.

The 27-year-old has represented Mexico on 74 occasions since debuting in 2009, scoring an impressive 40 goals for El Tri.
