Massimiliano Allegri has praised the strength of his team in the wake of their 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking after the game, the Italian was quick to highlight the positives in the match despite the negative scoreline.

“I feel that the team has worked well in these last five days and fortunately there were no injuries,” the 47-year-old said to Tuttojuve.

“We knew that this test was very important, but also difficult against a team that has been training for a month and that will play in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League.”

The coach also highlighted the team’s weaknesses as well as some key areas of improvement.

“We’ve done some good things but I’m disappointed we conceded two goals on the break,” said the Italian.

“We have to try to limit opportunities, gain a little bit of composure and pay a little more attention in certain situations. Overall, I would say I’m quite happy.

“Tonight we tried to play this game with a new system so it was not easy. We lost possession going forward where we risked a lot and they scored two goals on the break.”

The former AC Milan manager outlined his team’s plans for their upcoming friendlies, saying that the squad is preparing for the Supercoppa Italiana.

“Our goal is to play well on August 8 [in the Supercoppa Italiana], so we have scheduled three difficult games to try and condition the players.”

When asked about whether any future changes to the team would be made, Allegri responded by praising the new arrivals to the team.

“The boys are all top class and the group is solid. Mario Mandzukic and Sami Khedira have arrived and they are two players of international level.

“The market is always open, who knows what it will bring but we will do everything to improve this team.”
