Arturo Vidal - JuventusJuventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been handed a two-year driving ban by Chilean authorities following his reckless crash while on international duty for Chile at the Copa America.

The 28-year-old crashed his Ferrari on June 16 and was formally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and public misconduct after he insulted police officers which attended the scene.

After delivering an apology for his conduct, Vidal was allowed to continue playing at the Copa America.

While the Santiago native will avoid trial, he has been banned from driving for two years as punishment.

Vidal will also have to donate sports memorabilia to the local services affected by the incident along with being ordered to deliver motivational speeches to inmates.

He expressed remorse by apologising to the police officers he insulted and even agreed to pay an undisclosed compensatory amount to the other driver involved in the incident.

Vidal enjoyed a successful season with Juventus, helping them to a Scudetto and Coppa Italia, and was crucial in ending his nation’s wait for a major title by winning the Copa America for the first time.
