Lazio are reportedly interested in signing Inter’s Francesco Bardi as a back-up to No.1 goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

The Italy Under-21 international spent 2014/15 on loan at Chievo but only made one appearance after late October, something which didn’t affect his chances with Luigi Di Biagio’s Azzurrini where he was first-choice at last month’s European Under-21 Championship.

The 23-year-old would serve as No. 2 to Marchetti, according to Lalaziosiamonoi.it, with the Aquile competing on domestic and continental fronts in the forthcoming 2015/16 season.

A move for Bardi will likely coincide with the Biancocelesti signing up long-term custodian Marchetti to a new contract, the existing deal running out in 2016, to keep the 32-year-old at the Stadio Olimpico.

The former Cagliari shot-stopper joined Lazio in 2011 for €5.2 million and appeared 30 times in Lazio’s run to third-place during the most recent Serie A campaign.
