Lazio defender Stefan Radu has signed a contract extension which will tie him to the Aquile until 2020, in addition to becoming the new club captain as a reward for his services throughout the years.
The Romanian is now one of the longest serving players left at Lazio after club veterans Cristian Ledesma and Stefano Mauri departed at the end of the season, and will now been given the honour of succeeding the later as captain after penning a new deal.
Lazio announced the renewal on their official site, revealing that the player has prolonged his contract with the Biancocelesti for another five years, putting to rest any talk of a possible move to Sampdoria.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest that as part of the agreement the 28-year-old will also be granted the title of captain for the upcoming season, replacing former veteran Mauri.
Radu has appeared in 218 matches throughout all competitions for Lazio.
