Lazio are looking to secure the signature of Dutch international defender Ron Vlaar following the expiration of his contract at English Premier League club Aston Villa.
The 30-year-old centre-back had a superb World Cup in Brazil last summer, and has attracted the attention of fellow Serie A sides AC Milan and Napoli in recent months.
The Dutch defender is a free agent after the end of his contract with Aston Villa.
According to Il Tempo, Vlaar and his representative landed at the Fiumicino Airport in Rome ahead of talks with the Biancocelesti, with the no-nonsense defender ready to open a new chapter in his career with a move to Serie A.
Vlaar has made 78 appearances for Villa since joining from Eredivisie side Feyenoord during July 2012, scoring two goals.
