Lazio have terminated midfielder Ederson’s contract ahead of an impending move to back to native Brazil.

The 29-year-old joined the Biancocelesti from French side Lyon back in 2012, but his career at the Stadio Olimpico outfit was tarnished by injury problems where he managed just five goals and four assists in 50 competitive matches.

Although his contract with Lazio was set to run until 2017, both club and player have since decided to terminate it by mutual consent.

“Lazio announces that Ederson Honorato Campos is no longer part of the Biancocelesti,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

As such, Ederson will now to complete a return to his home country with Flamengo being touted as a possible destination.

The former Brazilian youth international is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Rio de Janeiro outfit.
