Torino defender Matteo Darmian is set to complete his transfer to Manchester United, pending a medical.
The Italian fullback has impressed with the Granata in recent seasons, and has been closely followed by a number of top clubs.
Manchester United appear to have won the race for his signature, as coach Louis Van Gaal confirmed on Friday that the Red Devils are indeed pursuing the player.
“I’ve read that [Darmian will undergo a medical with us] in the papers and it’s true,” Van Gaal admitted during a press conference.
Manchester United’s official Twitter page also revealed the news, corroborating Van Gaal’s confirming of the news.

According to BBC Sport, the clubs have agreed on a €17.5 million transfer fee for Darmian, who has been enthusiastic about the move.
“I’m very excited, and it’s a new adventure,” he told Sky Sport Italia at the Linate Airport in Milan.
“It’s a dream for me; I’m superstitious so I won’t say anything until the signatures [are official], so let’s wait.
“I want to thank Torino and their fans who have been great to me all these years.”
