Manchester United-owned forward Javier Hernandez is set to spark off a bidding war as five clubs hope to sign the striker, one of which are Serie A giants Roma.

‘Chicarito’, who spent last season on loan with Real Madrid, has returned to England after deciding not to make a permanent switch to Spain but is now the subject of a transfer tussle between a host of European sides.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United have already made an €11 million offer for the player’s signature but the Giallorossi, Wolfsburg, Galatasaray and Besiktas are all monitoring the situation with a view to making a similar approach for the in-demand Mexican.

Hernandez managed just seven goals in 23 La Liga appearances last season and it is not yet known whether he features in United manager Louis Van Gaal’s long term plans.
