Inter coach Roberto Mancini believes that the Nerazzurri and their Derby della Madonnina rivals AC Milan will return to the top of Serie A this season.

The Italian coach is preparing for the International Champions Cup clash with local rivals Milan in Shenzhen, China, before travelling to Guangzhou to meet Rafa Benitez’s Real Madrid on Monday.

“I am convinced both teams will return to the top,” Mancini said at a press conference in China.

“At Inter we are all working to complete the team’s attack with the idea of offering good football throughout the season.”

Inter’s pre-season thus far has seen wins over Stuttgarter Kickers and Carpi; most recently Mancini’s side fell to Bayern Munich in a friendly in Shanghai earlier this week.

“To play the derby here is important for our fans, Sinisa Mihajlovic is a great friend and I am happy to meet him for the first derby of the season.”

The former Scudetto winning tactician also believes that striker Samuele Longo, the Frosinone target who appeared with Mancini to speak to reporters, has a role to play at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza: “We believe in him and hope he will remain with us.”
