Hamsik - Napoli v WolfsburgNapoli captain Marek Hamsik has continued to criticise former coach Rafa Benitez by claiming that he never changed from the same system during his time in charge of the Partenopei.

The Slovakia international has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction at working with Benitez since he left to take over at Real Madrid, while praising the approach of new boss Maurizio Sarri.

“The squad is feeling good under Sarri,” said Hamsik to Premium Calcio.

“The training is different and intense and I like the new 4-3-1-2 system.

“The coach and I spoke several times and he decided to try me out in a three-man midfield.

“It is my old position, but a little different to the way I played a few years ago.

“Benitez? We used the same system for two years and in all that time we never changed once.

“This squad has a lot of quality and we’ve brought in new players too.

“We can continue to play at the same high level as we’ve done in previous years.

“I think Lorenzo Insigne can do very well as a trequartista, because he is so quick in tight spaces.

“Keeping Gonzalo Higuain is crucial for us, he is fundamental, as he has scored 60 goals in two years.

“It would be a blow to lose a player like that.”
