Following his move to Stoke City, Marco van Ginkel has sent a message of thanks to his previous club AC Milan.

Van Ginkel spent last season on loan with the Rossoneri and this season the young Dutch midfielder will once again be on loan, this time in the Premier League.

“Thank you for everything last season,” the Dutchman posted on his Instagram feed.

“I will continue to follow you and cheer for you.”

Van Ginkel has been unable to break into the Chelsea first team since joining the club in 2013, making just two appearances for the London side, and has subsequently been allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan for the last two seasons.

After a difficult start to his Rossoneri career, he became a fixture in former coach Filippo Inzaghi’s side by the end of the campaign, eventually making 17 appearances for the club, scoring his only goal in a victory against Roma.
