Free agent Pablo Osvaldo is set to undergo a medical at Cruz Azul, the Mexican giants announced on their official website.
The 29-year-old Italian international was released from his contract with English outfit Southampton last week after a series of off-the-field incidents, and is free to decide his future.
The striker was sent on loan to Inter at the start of last season, but had his loan ripped up prematurely in January after an incident with Mauro Icardi, and spent the rest of the season with Boca Juniors.
The club announced that the striker is currently visiting the medical center at the Mexican giants, and is expected to sign a formal deal once he is cleared.
The move will come as a blow to a number of other clubs that were queuing up for his signature, including Bologna and a few Major League Soccer franchises.
