Real Madrid produced a sumptuous counter-attacking performance to dismantle a strong Inter side during their pre-season friendly in China.

The goals came from Jese in the 29th minute, Raphael Varane half way through the second half and James Rodriguez closed the scoring thanks to a stunning free-kick in the 89th.

Both sides made a strong start to the match with the Nerazzurri pushing forward and enjoying the lion’s share of possession.

However, it was Real Madrid who had the first real chance of the match when Gareth Bale was played through by right-back Danilo, but fired his shot narrowly wide.

Madrid continued to dominate and nearly opened the scoring when Cristiano Ronaldo struck a fierce free-kick that hit the bar.inter vs real madrid china 2015

Somewhat buoyed by these early chances, Los Blancos came close once again when the Portuguese captain put a shot wide of the far post.

Eventually Madrid were rewarded for their dominance when Marcelo creeped forward and chipped a delightful ball into the path of Jese, who turned inside and fired the ball in at the near post.

Inter’s vulnerability to the counter-attack was shown once again in 35th minute when Jese sprung forward producing a low cross for Ronaldo but the 30-year-old could only hit his shot straight at Samir Handanovic.

Just before the end of the first half, Inter finally awoke and were able to create some decent opportunities.

Their first chance came when Mateo Kovacic’s delightful run ended in a rasping shot, but it was comfortably saved Keylor Navas. A couple of minutes later Hernanes smacked the bar with curling free-kick.

The second half started in similar fashion to that of the first when substitute Denis Cheryshev almost doubled the Spaniard’s lead when his pile driver of a shot flew over the bar.

After 10 minutes into the second half, Madrid did manage to increase their advantage when substitute Lucas Vazquez crossed in for Raphael Varane who subsequently scored on the volley just inside the six-yard box.

As both sides began to rely more upon their substitutes, the tempo of the game slowed down considerably; especially due to the intense heat.

The Nerazzurri replacements lacked intensity and were unable to create anything of note with Real Madrid seeing out the game in comfortable fashion.

Just two minutes before the end of the match, Colombian James Rodriguez was gifted a free-kick well outside the penalty area and closed scoring with a blistering effort that flew in past the outstanding yet helpless Handanovic.
