Former Inter defender Hugo Campagnaro could be set for a move to Major League Soccer with both Montreal Impact and Toronto FC interested.

The Argentina international has long been linked with a move away from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and is now a free agent after his two-year contract with the Nerazzurri expired this summer.

Mount Royal Soccer reports that the Canadian rivals are competing to sign the 35-year-old, while Hellas Verona are also looking to secure his signature.

Campagnaro could be convinced to move to Montreal, as Enzo Concina is the current assistant coach at the Eastern Conference side.

The pair previously worked together at Napoli and Inter with Concina part of the technical staff that worked under Walter Mazzarri.

The defender has made 199 appearances in Serie A since making his top-flight debut on September 22 2002 for Piacenza in a 2-0 win against Udinese.
