Roma may have former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to thank in their efforts to offload Gervinho, as he urged his fellow Ivorian to consider a switch to Galatasaray.

The Giallorossi have been desperately trying to sell Gervinho and looked close to offloading him until a transfer to Emirati club Al-Jazira fell through. Turkish giants Galatasaray have since shown their interest and Drogba, who represented the Istanbul club in 2013-14, sent a message to his former international teammate advising him to make the move.

As reported by VoceGiallorossa, Drogba told the Roma man, “Turkey would be an excellent solution for you. Go without over-thinking. Turkey and Galatasaray are an ideal solution for you.”

Drogba also attempted to sell the city to the 28-year-old, continuing, “Istanbul is not just a big city, it is a very beautiful one.

“My friend, I really think you need to accept this destination. The fans are fantastic, you’ll be a king in Galatasaray.”
