AS Roma are keen to bolster their goalkeeping department during the current transfer market, but received news from Argentine shot-stopper Sergio Romero that he would like to be an integral part of the team if he were to leave Sampdoria.

Romero has been spectacular for Argentina during this summer’s Copa America in Chile and continues to prove why he is a highly sought after goalkeeper at the ripe age of 28.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, during Romero’s recent interview with Red Radio he praised the Argentina coach for giving him so much confidence “I’m very calm, I’m fine both physically and mentally and the coach of Argentina is giving me confidence. I’m looking for a team to give important minutes of the game so I can maintain my place”

The Giallorossi already have Morgan De Sanctis as their first choice goalkeeper, but if Roma can’t promise Romero playing time, he may opt out of joining.

During the span of last season, Romero had only one clean sheet all season, but has proved to be Argentina’s backbone time and time again.
