Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi has revealed his hunger to return to the field after spending a long period off with a succession of injuries.

The Viola had to do without their prized forward for the whole of the 2014/15 season as Rossi lay on the sidelines with a continuous knee injury which eventually required surgery, though the American-born Italian is now back to full fitness and raring to go ahead of the next season.

“I’m feeling good now and I cannot wait for the withdrawal to Moena [Fiorentina’s training camp],” Rossi said while addressing the fans.

“I have trained so much and now I hope for a great season, both on my part and that of the team.”

As part of their pre-season fixtures, Fiorentina will travel to America to compete in the International Champions Cup against the likes of Spanish giants Barcelona and French champions Paris Saint Germain, the latter of whom they will incidentally play in Rossi’s home state of New Jersey.

“We’ll also play in America, where I have lots of friends and family so I also can’t wait for that.”
