Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet is on the verge of signing for Serie B side Como on a loan basis.

This time last year, after breaking into the Bianconeri first-team during 2013/14, the Italian was subject to approaches from Atletico Madrid which were rebuffed by Udinese as comparisons with the likes of Gianluigi Buffon were made over the Udine-born keeper.

The Lariani, who have just been promoted to Italy’s second-tier, are interested in landing the 19-year-old according to Tuttomercatoweb as he was reduced to a single Serie A appearance last season due to Greek shot-stopper Orestis Karnezis commanding the number one shirt for the Zebrette.

Scuffet was present at the unveiling of next season’s Bianconeri jersey and may be considered by new coach Stefano Colantuono for a starting berth in the upcoming campaign, with the priority for the youngster first-team experience, be that with Udinese or elsewhere.
