Mario Balotelli is being linked with a Serie A return as Lazio are believed to have made a tentative approach for the Liverpool outcast.

The unsettled striker is eager for a return to Italy but has received lukewarm interest following a poor season at Anfield.

Sport Mediaset claims that while agent Mino Raiola is formalising a deal with Lazio for Ajax’s Ricardo Kishna, he is also taking the opportunity to offer Balotelli’s services to the Biancocelesti.

However, the Aquile have said that they would only be interested in a one-year loan deal if they qualify for the Champions League group stages, and they would expect Liverpool to pay the 24-year-old’s salary.

Balotelli endured a nightmare season with Liverpool, only managing to score once in 16 Premier League appearances.

The Italian international has also been linked with Fiorentina but the Viola fans were quick to unveil a banner stating that the ex-Inter forward was not welcome in Florence.
