Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has hailed the signing of former Torino full-back Matteo Darmian.
The 25 year-old completed his move to Old Trafford, signing a four-year contract with an option for a fifth, for an undisclosed fee, reported to be €18 million.
“Matteo is a right full-back who can also play on the left,” Van Gaal told reporters at the unveiling of the former Palermo defender.
“He is a strong defender and is also good in attack.
“He has fantastic qualities that are needed to play in the high tempo games of the Premier League.
“Matteo will give an instant contribution to the team, I am looking forward to working with him.”
The Legnano born full-back made 133 Serie A appearances, scoring three goals for Torino during his four years at the club, and has been capped 13 times for the Italian national team.
