West Ham are the latest club to be linked with a move for unwanted Roma striker Mattia Destro, who seems certain to leave the Eternal City side this summer.

And he may yet swap the Italian capital for the English one after a move to Monaco, which had looked close to completion last month, fell through.

However, according to TMW, the Hammers are only evaluating whether a move for the former Genoa man would be worth it and they suggest that the Londoners are far from convinced about the 24-year-old’s ability so far although reports in the English media had placed Destro’s agent in England for talks with West Ham.

It is thought that Slaven Bilic’s side would prefer to sign a striker who has previous experience of the Premier League – such as Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez who is also being linked with a switch to the MLS.

Destro spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan and even went on to score the winning goal against his parent club in a game at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza towards the end of the campaign.
