Juventus have held talks with a view to signing former Hamburg defender Heiko Westermann, claims the German’s agent.
With injury troubles concerning Giorgio Chiellini, who will miss the Supercoppa Italiana with a thigh injury, and Andrea Barzagli, the Bianconeri are worried about their defensive back-up with Daniele Rugani and Leonardo Bonucci potentially the only natural centre-backs available, therefore they are hoping to sign Westermann.
We had some talks with Juventus, the club were interested in my client, but we have to remain with the facts and that there was nothing beyond this original interest,” Westermann’s agent, Renza Faeli said in Hamburger Abendlatt’s interview.
Westermann spent the last five years at Hamburg before leaving the club and has 28 caps for the German national team.
The Old Lady take on the Biancocelesti in Shanghai on August 8, looking to claim their third Supercoppa crown in four years.
