Former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini believes lady luck was shining on his old team as they emerged victorious against Empoli.

The Rossoneri laboured to victory against the Azzurri as they recorded their first win of the 2015-2016 Serie A season after a disappointing defeat to Fiorentina in their previous match.

Goals from Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano ensured the Diavolo secured all three points, however the 38-year-old believes it could have been a very different outcome.

“Empoli played better, they put in a good performance and read the game well.” said Ambrosini to Sky Sport Italia.

“Milan struggled and were lucky with the opportunities that allowed them to take home the three points but Empoli had more chances.”

The former Milan captain spent 18 years at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza where he featured a total of 344 times and scored 29 goals.
