Former Fiorentina midfielder Alberto Aquilani has signed for Portuguese giants Sporting Clube de Portugal on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old Italian international was a free agent since the Gigliati let him go in June this year and had been linked with moves to either Sampdoria, Olympique Marseille or the MLS.
Sporting CP posted on their official Twitter account an announcement of the player’s signing to welcome him to the club. It said: “Aquilani is the new ‘Lion’ reinforcement. You will win. Welcome Aquilani.”
