Virtus Entella Primavera Stefano PellizzariAscoli and Virtus Entella have been selected to enter Serie B for the 2015-16 season.

Entella were relegated via the play-offs to Lega Pro but will compete in the second division along with Ascoli after Catania were demoted for match-fixing while Teramo were sent back to the third division and lost their league title for the same offence.

An official statement from the federal council confirmed that Ascoli and Virtus Entella were the sides selected to fill the remaining spaces in Serie B.

Elsewhere, Pro Patria and Messina took the places of Torres and Vigor Lamezia in Lega Pro.

Apulian club Monopoli also moved up a division after Lombardy’s Castiglione were dissolved despite having only been founded in 2008.

FIGC chief Carlo Tavecchio also commented on the decisions made by the council.

“The federal council’s decision was important insofar as it sorted out the start of the season,” said Tavecchio.

“The courts and judges should be thanked.

“It was a record for them to solve such an important issues in the period of just 28 days.

“From an organisational perspective, the leagues will start as normal.

“Lega Pro will start with 54 teams, barring any decisions not related to football which go against common sense.

“It will be difficult accept to newcomers to the league without guarantees.”
