Atalanta striker German Denis is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, having picked up an injury in La Dea’s Serie A opener against Inter.
The Argentine powerhouse – whose nickname is El Tanque – was forced off with the injury after just ten minutes of play, with compatriot Mauro Icardi following him off the field shortly after for the opposition.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, it is believed the 33-year-old has suffered a partial tear of a ligament in his right ankle, which will see him miss this weekend’s game with newly promoted Frosinone.
Fortunately for Orobici coach Edy Reja, the international break that follows the second round of Serie A fixtures could allow Denis to return for the third round of fixtures, as Atalanta make the trip to the Mapei Stadium to face Sassuolo.
Denis made 32 Serie A appearances for the Bergamo side last season, scoring eight goals as he helped the club avoid relegation.
