Former Roma player and current executive at the club, Federico Balzaretti has praised the signing of Edin Dzeko as well as casting light on other transfers that may happen.
Balzaretti had to retire earlier this summer following a series of recurring groin injuries which limited him to just one appearance last season.
Speaking to SportItalia, the 33-year-old said Edin Dzeko was a great player.
“He’s a player of very high quality, Roma have acquired a great champion,” Balzaretti stated.
The former Palermo player then touched on the futures of Juan Iturbe and possibilities of signing Lucas Digne and Juan Jesus.
“Digne is a player who knows Garcia, he had him at Lille.
“I do not know if Juan Jesus will arrive, but he is definitely a strong defender.
“I do not know, I hope he [Iturbe] will remain, but a lot will depend on his own will.
“In training he works hard, we always put the players desire first and he can do really well.”
Finally, Balzaretti was asked about next weekend’s crucial match against Juventus.
“The performance will be more important than the result.
“It’s always a challenge and a good game, they are two rival teams that compete every year for titles. It will be a good match.”
